East Village Energy: SLIK x Cuera Sugar Rush Run

East Village Energy: SLIK x Cuera Sugar Rush Run

Some mornings stay with you.

Not because of the distance covered or the pace maintained, but because of the people, the atmosphere, and the feeling that something genuine happened.

On a warm June morning in New York City's East Village, we teamed up with SLIK to host the Sugar Rush Run a community-driven run bringing together movement, culture, and a shared appreciation for doing things differently.

Thirty runners gathered outside SLIK's store before the city had fully woken up. Inside, music played, cold drinks were served, and guests explored SLIK's newest summer candy collection while connecting with fellow runners. Goodie bags were handed out, conversations started naturally, and the energy slowly built as everyone changed into selected Cuera styles for the run ahead.

The East Village felt like the perfect setting. Known for its creative spirit, independent culture, and unmistakable New York character, the neighborhood provided a backdrop that reflected the values behind both brands: community, individuality, and a willingness to create experiences that feel authentic.

While Cuera was born on the padel court, our vision has always extended beyond a single sport. We design apparel for people who move whether that's through padel, running, reformer, yoga, strength training, or simply an active everyday life. The Sugar Rush Run became a natural expression of that mindset.

What followed was less about running and more about connection. A group of strangers moving through the streets of Manhattan, sharing conversations, discovering new friendships, and experiencing the city together.

In a world increasingly shaped by screens, algorithms, and digital interactions, moments like these matter. Real people. Real movement. Real community.

A huge thank you to the teams at SLIK, NOCCO, and Barebells for helping bring the morning to life and to everyone who joined us in making the East Village feel a little smaller for a few hours.

This was New York. This was community.

And this was exactly why we do what we do.

Run. Rush. Repeat.
